Kai is a seasoned AI expert and business leader with extensive global experience. Currently the Generative AI Delivery Lead at HCL Tech in Sweden, he leads teams delivering cutting-edge AI solutions for a leading Swedish manufacturer. Based in Stockholm for the past eight years, Kai previously served as Director of AI Innovation at Ericsson Group IT, where he drove global initiatives such as deep learning-based legal contract analysis and AI-powered 5G network management.
A pioneer in applying AI to real-world challenges, Kai has developed impactful use cases, including Generative AI models for processing customer feedback and incident tickets. His innovations have achieved remarkable efficiencies, such as reducing legal document comparison from weeks to seconds and accelerating business processes from weeks to hours.
Kai has spoken twice at the Data Innovation Summit, Scandinavia’s largest Data and AI conference, sharing insights on scaling AI innovation programs and achieving measurable results. He also contributed to Ericsson’s IoT smart-city solutions, including Kigali’s award-winning transport system, and advised on 4G network implementations in Kenya and Rwanda.
An MBA graduate from the Wharton School, Kai began his career at McKinsey & Company in Johannesburg before roles at a London startup developing the Nectar loyalty card and as a consultant with Bain & Company in Dallas, advising technology manufacturing clients.
Kai holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town. His journey reflects a blend of technical expertise, strategic leadership, and a passion for driving innovation across industries.
